Milk [Berlin] – Party night (or day) at Berlin’s super cool cultural playground
A visit to Berlin’s Neverland Kater Holzig is an absolute must. Ideally positioned on the bank of the Spree, this former soap factory turned indoor/outdoor funhouse is an off-the-beat escape and cultural playground of music, eating, art and performance. Kater offers a variety of things for all types of people, so long as you don’t mind it a little rough around the edges.
The up-for-it crowd looking to party for two days straight can shuffle around to one of the many rooms, enjoying Techno and House until the beats and body are one. For those who wish to chill, there is a river-side beach bar with bonfire and ambient music. For the romantics, sit with a bottle of wine and hot pizza on the riverbank, and let the fire light enhance your partner’s finer attributes. A cinema, lounge, oodles of performance space, nooks and secret rooms make up the rest of the warehouse complex.
In addition to the clubbing-till-sunrise and art-bar experience, more refined evenings are also an option at Kater Schmaus, the shabby-chic gourmet restaurant on the club’s top floor. Replete with wooden features, graffiti on the walls, and an old-school punk feel, the menu in contrast is fairly high end. The food is seasonally inspired, highly creative and yummy. Well-priced too. It is recommended to make reservations well in advance.
Open all year round on weekends and some week nights, Kater Holzig won’t waiver on awesomeness. Parties last through the daytime so don’t be surprised to find line-ups even at 8am. Outdoor bonfires warm the bones on frosty nights in winter, so the party never really stops. Don’t miss out on this place!
