Milk [Copenhagen] – Modern art in a stunning setting
Copenhagen’s Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is one of the world’s best modern art museums and certainly worth the 45 minute train trip out of town to check out the considerable collection, museum architecture, and beautiful marine setting.
The museum is home to an impressive catalogue that takes its point of departure post-1945, with plenty of Picasso, Warhol, Giacometti, Henry Moore and Rauschenberg. A few times a year they also offer special temporary exhibitions featuring both great modernists as well as international contemporary artists in the realms of design, art, architecture and photography, pleasing to any culture coolio. Visitors can also participate in the live sessions with guest speakers and artists year round.
Wander around the museum and if you need a breather, a detour outside to relax on the manicured lawns and contemplate the sea view should do the trick. The Sculpture Park is a lovely place for a stroll and offers picturesque views overlooking the Øresund strait and across to the Swedish coastline.
