One Leicester Street

Milk [London] – Retro chic hotel done right

One Leicester Street is a posh Georgian building that has been converted into a five-storey hip and social boutique hotel in the heart of London’s bustling Chinatown. Entering the hotel feels a bit like opening a multi-layered Christmas present: each step reveals stunning combinations of retro chic charm with clean simplicity. The main floor restaurant and bar feature an intimate palette of dark blue and grey with warm oak flooring and bespoke coppered lighting. Sexy-retro 1960s design (think spy-like vibe) make up the furnishings and décor, and antiques and oddities pop-up in all corners. The restaurant serves excellent modern British cuisine by executive chef Tom Harris (of former St. John restaurant Michelin Star distinction) and the bar prides itself on pure classic cocktails, so stop in for a drink to toast the golden age of cocktail hour.

Perched above the hotel’s restaurant are 15 beautifully designed guest rooms with custom-fit furnishings and fixtures. These calming sanctuaries are the perfect escape from bustling London city life, with refreshing interiors and simple decor that’s soothing on the eyes. There are plenty of modern amenities to keep the fussiest traveler happy, including sweet Penhaligon’s bath products, gratis wifi, and flat screen televisions. While this area of London can be a bit of a tourist circus at times, One Leicester Street is a warm and welcoming retro-chic hub away from home.
