Milk [Seattle] – Get your merrymaking fix here
What do you get when you mix Korean-American fusion food, a modern art gallery and an open plan kitchen with cooks that are so good at what they do? You get Revel, the happy eating place for Seattleites in the know. If you are a foodie looking for good grub then you should stop right in your tracks and high-tail it to Revel. The chef excels at blending together expressive flavors to suit all palates. Inside you will find so many visual and aromatic cues, you will be ogling and drooling for a long while. The colorful pop-art portraits on the walls compete with the seamless food prep and chef’s assembly line on the other side of the butcher block counter. The open kitchen concept gives you full viewing pleasure as you and your party find yourselves salivating over the rich smells of short ribs and savory sweet marinades wafting towards you. Your eyes spark up when you see flames ignite on the open grill.
The menu is short but to the point with four very important food groups: pancakes, dumplings, rice and noodles. The short rib dumplings never disappoint with the sweetness of the beef, which is well rounded by the acidity of the scallion garnish. The succulent white gulf shrimp noodles in bright Oscar-green cilantro pisto burst inside your mouth when you take a bite. With a very present herb sauce, you will taste the sea.
While waiting for a table (sorry – they do not take reservations unless you are a party of six or more), head to Quoin bar, a laid back, dimly lit cocktail lounge connected to Revel. They offer a refined drinks list (bubbly is available) which is very easy to choose from. Quoin are proud to serve Soju, a Korean vodka with flavors of lemon, ginger and pear all topped off with a minty herby garnish. But if you fancy a bit of night air on a summers evening head to Revel’s back patio to catch the sunset and shoot the breeze with your friends. It’s urban. It’s comforting. It’s good.
