Milk [Toronto] – Where french pastry meets modern verve
Nadége Patisserie is a truly modern bakery and café, where artistry is performed daily combining French pastry with modern styling and ingredients. Serious pastry and confectionery lovers will go blocks out of their way to get to this establishment for a prized macaron or two.
Situated next to Trinity Bellwood’s Park in eclectic West Queen West, the interior is minimal and bright, particularly as the afternoon sun glides over the park. The pure white decor is the perfect canvas for the colourful tasty gems that light up beneath the glass counter. Macarons, Madeline’s, canelles and sweet biscuits shine like little darlings. And don’t forget the savoury options of croissants, quiches and tartines; perfect for whatever your inclinations.
At the helm is Executive Chef and co-owner Nadége Nourian, a fourth generation pastry chef originally from Lyon, France. Her philosophy is to pamper customers with exquisitely detailed French delights, all made in-house with only the highest quality ingredients. …And pampered indeed! With every item appearing so tantalizing, the challenge is to decide what lovely morsel to try first! The macarons are a must-do; these tiny little sandwiches are crisp, chewy and delicately flavoured with subtle notes of floral rose and nutty pistachio. There is pleasure in every bite at this pretty patisserie, so don’t miss out!
Flash northwards to the second location in Rosedale, and you’ll find the decor modern and darker, with rich chocolate shelving, industrial brickwork and concrete flooring. It’s a warmer vibe and more boutique-y with an impressive display of sweets in specialty packaging. Among the toffee candies and pillowy soft marshmallows you’ll discover plenty of gift options for birthday’s, Valentine’s Day, or any occasion (or excuse) to indulge yourself or special someone.
