Milk [Toronto] – Charming chai
The Chai Bar is a fantastic grab-and-go café operating out of a quaint wooden barn with a tranquil back patio perfect for a pick me up in the sunshine. Located steps from Dupont Street and hidden behind the Indian Rice Factory, the intimate space offers a variety of tea beverages, coffees, pastries and light lunch items.
The showstopper is of course the traditional masala chai, a heady blend of fresh ginger, cinnamon, coriander, peppercorns and cloves that are expertly ground before your eyes in a mortar and pestle and then steamed in sweetened black tea. The ingredients can be customized from bold and spicy to medium or mild. Milk recommends it bold and spicy when you need to give your tastebuds a wake-up jolt.
